Portland standout Justin Zukowski last week was named one of three finalists for the Fitzpatrick Trophy, given annually to the state’s stop senior football player. Zukowski, our Portland High Fall Male Athlete of the Year, who was named the Eastern A Player of the Year, led the region in rushing with 1,531 yards on 169 carries. He scored 19 touchdowns as well. He also caught six passes for 44 yards and two scores. Zukowski is heading to Bates College next year. Other finalists include Cony’s Ben Lucas and Kennebunk’s Nicco DeLorenzo. The winner will be announced Jan. 19.
