SOUTH PORTLAND — Yvonne Beatrice Libby, 83, of South Portland, died unexpectedly on Mother’s Day, May 12.
Libby was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Hartford, Conn. She was raised in Berlin, N.H., and attended Notre Dame High School there. She enjoyed working summers as a waitress in Old Orchard Beach.
After working for many years at Talbots clothing store, she retired at the age of 80. She won many awards for her ability to sell, and had many returning customers.
Libby was a member of the Thornton Heights United Methodist Church, and even at the age of 83, went to the gym three times a week.
She married the love of her life, Richard A. Libby, in 1958. Together they enjoyed fishing, dancing and going to the beach. They raised two daughters and kept in constant contact with her family in Berlin. She thought the world of her little brother, Georgie.
Libby is predeceased by her parents, George and Yvonne Aubin, as well as her sisters, Theresa McVinker and Florence Woodbury.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Richard; daughters Michelle Caiazzo, of Standish, and Pamela Libby, of Portland; brother George Aubin Jr. of Berlin, N.H.; four grandchildren, Amber Caiazzo, Anthony Caiazzo, Cerise Caiazzo and Rochelle Caiazzo; great-grandson Donovan Caiazzo; and many nieces and nephews.
A service honoring Libby’s life was held Saturday at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services in Portland.
