YARMOUTH — The town will hold an information expo on browntail moths Wednesday, April 3, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Yarmouth High School, 286 West Elm St.

The expo will give residents a chance to speak with tree, bug and medical specialists and also receive basic information on the browntail moth, such as how to spot it, how to combat it and other key steps.

The insect is harmful because it eats the leaves of many common trees and shrubs, and contact with hairs from the caterpillar can cause skin rashes and irritation, as well as respiratory problems in humans.

Additional resources on browntail moths can be found on the town website at www.yarmouth.me.us. Residents may also contact Yarmouth Community Services at 846-2406 for more information.
