YARMOUTH — To stem the increased costs of recycling and trash disposal, and to reduce recycling contamination, the town will permanently close its two satellite recycling areas as of May 1.

The town estimated that by eliminating the sites on Route 1 and Route 88 it will save about $36,000 a year.

Residents and businesses may continue to dispose of their recyclables at the Transfer Station, 659 East Main St., with a valid window sticker or through private curbside collection.

Go online to www.yarmouth.me.us/transfer for more information about Yarmouth’s recycling programs and a complete list of what can be recycled.
