Harrison Middle School sixth-grader Emi Ruth greets Yarmouth Elementary School staff and students after riding her bike to school recently from her home on Littlejohn Island. Emi and her classmates unveiled a map of safe routes for Yarmouth students to walk and ride to schools. The project was funded in part through a grant from National Center for Safe Routes to School. The website also allows students to create and save their own safe routes. To celebrate unveiling the map, Emi and classmate Anna Baker rode to school from their island homes. Sixth-grade teacher Molly Smith rode her bicycle to school from South Portland.
