YARMOUTH — In an effort to encourage people to lower their carbon footprint, members of the Harrison Middle School’s environmental club, the eTeam, will greet students who ride the bus, walk, bike or carpool to school Friday, March 27, in support of Green Streets Day.

Green Streets, the Portland-based effort, promotes finding earth-friendly ways to travel the last Friday of every month.

With the help of Merry Kahn, the eTeam student adviser and school librarian, students have been participating in the effort for a year.

Members of the eTeam will meet travelers at 7 a.m. Friday morning, and if students wear green or chose an earth-friendly way to get to school, they will receive a green footprint stamp to show their participation.
