YARMOUTH — A Girl Scout from Troop 6 is collecting cake mix, frosting, balloons, candles, streamers, toys and gifts for low-income children.

Sabrina Flanders, a senior at Yarmouth High School, said she hopes to collect 24 boxes of party supplies, 12 each for boys and girls, to help “ensure that every child, regardless of income or social standing, may have a special birthday celebration.”

Donations can be made at Andy’s Handy Store, 367 Main St., and Yarmouth Community Services, 200 Main St. Flanders will assemble birthday boxes and donate them to Tedford Housing in Brunswick and Yarmouth Cares About Neighbors.

Flanders’ Birthday Boxes Project is part of her Gold Award project, a Girl Scout activity that requires 80 hours of community service. To learn more, contact Flanders at y2014sabfla@yarmouthschools.org or 939-6490.
