YARMOUTH — Having not found what it considers the best person to serve as the next superintendent of schools, the Yarmouth School Committee announced Tuesday that it will reopen the search.

“We interviewed a number of qualified candidates, but did not find the right match,” School Committee Chairwoman Abby Diggins said in a press release. “We are committed to finding a highly qualified candidate who is a good fit for our district.”

The new superintendent will replace Judy Paolucci, who resigned last December to accept a school chief position in Leicester, Mass.

Ronald Barker will continue serving as interim superintendent through late summer, and the School Committee hopes to find an interim successor for the 2013-2014 school year, according to the press release.

Diggins said the hope is to find a permanent replacement by July 2014.
