YARMOUTH — The ongoing $4.1 million reconstruction of the U.S. Route 1 bridge will require closing the portion of Main Street beneath the bridge from the evening of Friday, Dec. 14, to the morning of Monday, Dec. 17.

All vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian access will be prohibited, the town announced.

Drivers heading west on Main Street will be directed to U.S. Route 1 north to East Main Street, then North Road to East Elm Street. Eastbound drivers will take U.S. Route 1 south to Portland Street.

Bicyclists and walkers can detour to School Street and through Royal River Park to Bridge Street, then connect with Main Street.

U.S. Route 1 will remain open to north and southbound traffic. Drivers will have access to U.S. Route 1 from Main Street.
