BATH — Volunteers are sought to help complete the Whiskeag Trail, a five-mile corridor linking the Bath Area Family YMCA to the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s Thorne Head Preserve.
Work days, planned for July 20-22, will consist of building bog bridges and water bars, rerouting trails and implementing drainage and erosion control measures.
Volunteers are asked to wear work shoes or boots and to bring gloves, water and a lunch; pants are preferred to shorts.
Work begins at 9 a.m. at the Sewall Woods Parking lot on Whiskeag Road. Sign up by calling the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust at 442-8400 or e-mailing areiter@kennebecestuary.org. Visit www.kennebecestuary.org for more information and a map of the trail visit.
A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Sept. 18.
