Waynflete senior Morgan Woodhouse (left) was named the female winner of the 2010 Bob Butler Award at Monday night’s Western Maine Conference awards banquet in South Portland. The award is given to a senior for overall good citizenship, sportsmanship, leadership, dedication to team play and quality basketball performance. Woodhouse led the Flyers to the Western C Final for the second year in a row, was the top scorer in the conference with 21 points per game, led in steals with 5.5 and came in fourth in rebounds (11). She broke the 1,000-points mark for her career, was a team captain, is an honors student, a member of “Safe Passage” and “Project Story Boost” and is also a standout soccer and lacrosse player. Butler was a longtime coach and administrator at York High School who still regales and inspires crowds with his wit and spirit. This year’s male winner was Gray-New Gloucester’s Taylor Valente.
