Two Portland-area women’s hockey teams recently won titles in the She-Wolves 14th annual tournament at Wolfeboro, N.H. The Maine Coon Cats, a team with players ranging from ages 20-56, won the Recreational Division and The Breakaways, a team of players who are mostly over 40, landed in first place in the ‘D’ Division. The tournament consisted of four games for each team.
Leading scorers from the Coon Cats were Amy Roy of Portland with four goals, Gina Iaconneta of Gray and Tessa Prince of Portland each contributed three goals over the course of the weekend. Felicia Mazzone of Scarborough was outstanding in net, allowing only five goals against during the whole tournament. Breakaways goalie Laura Mathisen of Freeport allowed only one goal during the weekend.
