The Maine Mayhem women’s football team, featuring several local players, won the recent 2016 Affiliate Bowl championship, blanking the Knoxville Lightning, 48-0, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Team members Paula Beaulieu, Frankie Curtis, Theresa Hendrix, Alicia Jeffords and Jessikah Lopez were named to the all-star team. Hendrix ran for two touchdowns, threw for another and recovered an onside kick in the Affiliate Bowl victory, while Beaulieu also ran for two scores and Curtis recovered a pair of fumbles.
