BRUNSWICK — A 91-year-old woman was hospitalized at Maine Medical Center in Portland after she received third-degree burns over 30 percent of her body in a house fire Wednesday night.

Harriet Soulen, of Beech Drive, was listed in serious condition, according to a police statement Wednesday night. Hospital officials could not provide an update on Friday afternoon.

Police and firefighters responded to the house fire at 6 p.m. Wednesday after a neighbor heard Soulen’s alarm system. He burned his hand while removing her from the building, and was treated at the scene.

Police said the fire was an accident.
