BRUNSWICK — A 91-year-old woman has died after she received third-degree burns over 30 percent over of her body in a house fire last week.
Harriet Soulen, of Beech Drive, died Monday night at Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to the state fire marshal’s office.
Soulen was brought to the hospital the night of Sept. 4 after her clothing caught fire while she was cooking food on her stove. Police said the fire, which was confined to the kitchen and entry, was an accident.
Police and firefighters responded to the house fire at 6 p.m. after a neighbor heard Soulen’s life alert alarm system. He burned his hand while removing her from the building, and was treated at the scene.
