It’s all over.

The winter sports season, which began before Thanksgiving, officially lowered its curtain Saturday evening at the Colisee in Lewiston when the Brunswick boys’ hockey team fell against Bangor in an Eastern Class A semifinal.

The fifth-ranked Dragons entered the game on a high note after upsetting No. 4 Lawrence/Skowhegan, 1-0, in the quarterfinals, on a goal from Matt Brooks and Blake Alexander’s shutout effort in the cage.

Brunswick met its match against top-ranked Bangor, however. The Dragons had lost, 6-0, at the Rams in the regular season and while Saturday’s effort was better, Brunswick went down to a 5-1 defeat.

Brooks had the goal, which pulled the Dragons within 2-1 after two periods, but they couldn’t hold on in the third and lost to finish the year 10-8-2.

Also last weekend, several Brunswick indoor track athletes took part in the New England championships in Boston.

The top finisher was Teresa Murphy, who came in 13th in the girls’ mile with a time of 5 minutes, 19.01 seconds. Tiffany Tanner was 17th in the 1,000 (3:09.91). Anna Cowan came in 19th in the 600 (1:45.40). Tessa Cassidy was 19th in the two-mile (11:44.24). The Dragons came in 16th in the 3,200 relay (9:54.22).

On the boys’ side, Brunswick’s Christopher Tanner placed 18th in the 1,000 (2:42.41).
