The winter sports season continues to produce impressive results in the Mid-Coast.

Boys’ basketball

The boys’ basketball team with the best record, 4-0 Hyde, hasn’t played since Dec. 13 and won’t return to the court until Jan. 4, when the Phoenix plays host to Valley.

Mt. Ararat is 3-2 after downing visiting Skowhegan, 44-35 (behind 13 points and eight rebounds from Mason Griffin), and losing at home to Brunswick, 62-50, last week. The Eagles were at Cony Thursday and return to action Jan. 2 at Lewiston.

Brunswick beat visiting Oxford Hills (79-54) and host Mt. Ararat (62-50), then lost at home to perennial power Bangor, 53-48, last week. The Dragons (3-3) host Lewiston Friday and go to Erskine Tuesday.

Morse is 2-3 after a 40-30 loss at Lincoln and a 39-37 victory at Leavitt. After hosting MCI Thursday, the Shipbuilders host Belfast Saturday. 

Girls’ basketball

On the girls’ side, Mt. Ararat remains undefeated at 5-0 after recent wins at Skowhegan (58-46) and Brunswick (59-34). The Eagles were home with defending Eastern A champion Cony Thursday and welcome Lewiston Wednesday of next week.

Brunswick’s loss to Mt. Ararat left it 0-6. The Dragons also lost at Oxford Hills (49-23) and Bangor (64-48). Brunswick is at Lewiston Friday and hosts Erskine Jan. 2.

Morse is 2-3 after a 55-40 home win over Lincoln and a 65-39 home loss to Leavitt last week. The Shipbuilders were at MCI Thursday and welcome Belfast Saturday.

Hyde will take its 4-0 record into a home game versus Valley Jan. 4. 

Hockey

On the ice, Brunswick’s boys fell to 2-2 Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Bangor. The Dragons were at Waterville Thursday and go to Mt. Ararat Jan. 5.

The Eagles are also 2-2 after a 3-2 win over Windham/Sacopee and a 2-1 loss at Edward Little. Before hosting Brunswick, Mt. Ararat is at Cony Saturday.

On the girls’ side, Brunswick takes a 2-5 record into a home game with Lewiston Friday.

Mt. Ararat fell to 0-8 with recent losses to Lewiston (7-0) and Yarmouth (6-3). The Eagles host Leavitt/EL Friday.

Indoor track

Brunswick’s boys were first and the girls second at a 10-team KVAC indoor track meet last weekend. Morse came in eighth in the boys’ meet and 10th on the girls’ side. Mt. Ararat’s boys were second to Edward Little and the girls’ placed third in a separate meet.

Wrestling

In early wrestling action, Mt. Ararat has a record of 4-5. Saturday, the Eagles lost to Cony (48-35) and Noble (72-12) and beat Gardiner (48-36), Madison (48-15) and Morse (42-24).

Morse is 1-9 to date.
