TOPSHAM — Wilma Marie Hovey, 83, of Topsham, died Dec. 11 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick, following a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Littleton, a daughter of Claude S. and Vera E. (Donovan) Hansen. She was educated in Houlton, and graduated from Houlton High School in 1947, one year after being crowned the town’s Miss Potato Blossom.

For several years, Hovey worked in Manchester, Connecticut, at Sears, Roebuck & Co. and at World Gym.

She will be remembered by her family as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Daryl L. Hovey, who died in 2003.

Survivors include son Carl A. Hovey, of Topsham, and his companion, Joy Rose, of New York City; son John D. Hovey and his wife, Susan, of Manchester, Connecticut; son Greg Woodruff, of Columbia, Connecticut; three sisters, Lorraine Junkins, of Bangor, Beverly Harvey, of Sabattus, and Diane Corkum, of Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held by the family in the spring.
