PORTLAND — State Street from Park to Cumberland avenues will remain closed through the end of the week.

City spokeswoman Jessica Grondin on Monday said the planned Dec. 15 reopening did not occur because resurfacing of the street was delayed by bad weather.

City crews planned to complete the resurfacing Tuesday, she said, but work on curbs would still require limiting through traffic to one lane.

State Street in the Parkside neighborhood has been closed to through traffic since August to allow contractors to replace and add water mains, gas lines and wastewater and stormwater drainage. Motorists have been advised to use Mellen Street or the Fore River Parkway as detours.
