CAPE ELIZABETH — The TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race is looking for volunteers to work on the day of the event and the week leading up to the race on Aug. 4.

Volunteers are mostly needed for the parking and shuttle bus program, recycling and composting, the medical tent on race morning and at the Kid’s Fun Run on Aug. 3.

New and returning volunteers can use a new, streamlined sign-up portal at www.beach2beacon.org/volunteer that makes it easier to see what jobs are available and which areas are filling up fast. Volunteers can also select the new “+1” feature which allows two to sign up together.

All volunteers will be given a running shirt from Nike and admittance to a race-week party at Fort Williams Park with food, music and prizes.

The race needs a total of 800 volunteers to accommodate over 6,500 recreational and elite athletes who participate.

In a news release, Volunteer Coordinator Maya Cohen said the race wouldn’t be what it is without volunteers.

“We’re hoping to attract new volunteers and also make sure our past volunteers get signed up so they don’t miss out,” Cohen said. “Volunteering at the TD Beach to Beacon is fun and rewarding all the way around.”

Groups interested in volunteering together should contact Cohen at cohemm@gmail.com. Those under age 18 cannot register online and need to download an application from the website. Call 838-8816 or email cohemm@gmail.com with questions.
