BRUNSWICK — Virginia Mae “Ginny” Eustathion, 86, died peacefully Aug. 16 after a long illness.

She was born in Chicago on Aug. 7, 1927, the daughter of Otto Frank and Mae Josephine McKay Meyer. Following the death of her mother at age 5, she was raised by her stepmother Helen Bushee Moeller Meyer.

Eustathion graduated from Fennville High School in 1945 and soon met her best friend and love of her life, Steve Theodore Eustathion. They were married in Washington, D.C., on April 18, 1947. They traveled frequently during his career with the U.S. Navy, until he was transferred to the Brunswick Naval Air Station in 1959. There they bought their first home to settle down and raise their family. Steve died June 7, 2000.

Eustathion was employed for 28 years as secretary and librarian at Brunswick Junior High School, a job she loved. She retired in July 1995.

Eustathion’s world was all about her husband and family, her church and her beautiful flower garden. She enjoyed cooking, baking and creating crafts with friends.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Brunswick, serving on the worship, education, stewardship and evangelism committees. She also served as the church librarian for many years. She enjoyed helping with the church’s public suppers, Christmas fairs, plant sales, Sunday school and sharing groups. She also was a leader in both the Boys and Girls Scouting Associations.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Moeller and Otto Meyer Jr.

Eustathion is survived by sister Shirley Steanburg, of Fennville, Mich.; daughter Barbara Jo Rosado, of Bristol, R.I.; son Calvin Theodore Eustathion and his wife Lana Lou, of Annville, Pa.; daughter Penelope Sue Koucoules and her husband George Michael, of Brunswick; nine grandchildren, Brian Scott Rosado and his wife Lora Lee, Steve Martin Rosado, Brett Matthew Rosado and his wife Maria Theresa, Robert-John Eustathion, Jayme Michael Koucoules and his wife Ericka, Sean Alexander Rosado, Brad Christopher Rosado and his wife Melissa Brinkman, Daniel Eustathion and Amanda Michelle Koucoules; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua Thomas Theodore Rosado, Jordan Elizabeth Rosado, Ashley Morgan Rosado, Natasha Nicole Koucoules, Noah Scott Rosado, Madison Paige Brinkman Rosado, Grace Maria Rosado and Max Alexander Koucoules; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Wednesday at the United Methodist Church of Brunswick, with the Rev. Karen L. Munson officiating. Interment will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Augusta.
