BATH — Virginia Ferris, 82, of Bath, died Dec. 27 at Parkland Medical Center, in Derry, N.H., with her family by her side.

She was born May 11, 1931, in Gardiner, the daughter of Frank and Florence Anderson, of Richmond. She graduated from Richmond High School and attended Farmington College, where she met and married the love of her life, Melvin D. Ferris Jr. Together, they raised three children while living in Massachusetts. The family moved back to Bath after she retired from a career in real estate in 1986.

Ferris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Bath, and volunteered at the Mid-Coast Medical Center in Brunswick. She strived to help others in any way that she could.

She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Ferris.

She is survived by three children, Carl Ferris and wife Veda, of Woolwich, Nancy Sullivan and husband Brian, and Marcia DiDio and husband Mark; as well as six grandchildren.

A funeral is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at The First Methodist Church, 340 Oak Grove Ave., Bath. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a memorial donations be made to The First Methodist Church, 340 Oak Grove Ave., Bath, ME 04530.
