Waynflete senior standout Martha Veroneau, named Miss Maine Basketball Friday night, received another honor Monday evening, as she was given the Bob Butler Award at the Western Maine Conference awards banquet in South Portland. The Butler Award is given to the senior player who best exemplifies good citizenship, sportsmanship, leadership, dedication and overall court performance and is named for the former York High School athletic director, teacher, coach and Heal Points statistician (second from right). Veroneau beat out Lake Region’s Sydney Hancock and York’s Emily Campbell for the award.
The boys’ Butler Award was shared by Wells’ Dylan Stevens (far right) and York’s Aaron Todd.
