The second women’s triathlon drew more than 700 participants and raised more than $400,000 for the Maine Cancer Foundation. The event began near the Southern Maine Community College campus and ended at SMCC’s athletic fields, overlooking Willard Beach. The most successful event ever held to benefit the foundation, the triathlon will help advance cancer research, patient education and support programs in Maine. Shaw finished first in the swimming competition, 17th in the bike race, 32nd in the run and seventh overall.
