FALMOUTH — The Maine Department of Transportation on Friday said traffic will be reduced to one lane southbound Sunday night on Interstate 295 at the Portland city line so crews can continue repairs to the Presumpscot River bridge at Mile 9.

Emergency repairs and were made Wednesday, June 20, after a broken steel joint was discovered on the bridge.

Sunday’s work is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and is expected to be done in time for the Monday morning commute.

More permanent repairs are scheduled for the fall, according to MDOT.
