SOUTH PORTLAND — A 6-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was attacked by a child twice her age Monday near Brown Elementary School on Highland Avenue.
After initially asking for the public’s help identifying and finding the alleged attacker, police on Tuesday afternoon said they had located the boy.
The girl was treated for her injuries and returned home, Police Sgt. Steve Webster said.
Webster would not provide any details about the attack, except to note that it occurred at 6 p.m. Monday and “was not a minor incident.”
The boy did not use a weapon, Webster said, and the girl did not know her attacker.
