BRUNSWICK —  Two local residents were among those arrested on drug charges Wednesday as a part of a months-long investigation by Brunswick Police and agents from Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

After a search warrant was executed around 6 p.m. at 27 Perryman Drive, a tenant, Desiree Swisher, 36, was charged with unlawful possession of crack cocaine. Dale Havens, 39, of Brunswick, was charged for violating conditions of probation. Unique Douglin, 33, of Bronx, New York, will face a charge of unlawful trafficking in crack cocaine.

According to an MDEA press release, close to 80 grams of crack in individual packages were seized along with $4,500 in suspected drug money and various other items police say are related to drug trafficking. The street value of the seized drugs was $10,000.

According to investigators, the group is suspected to be a part of a larger illegal drug operation based in New York. Police say members of the group traveled to Maine with large quantities of crack that was sold from multiple apartments in the greater Brunswick area.

The trio was taken to Cumberland County Jail, where Douglin’s bail was set at $5,000 cash and Swisher’s was set at $500 cash. Havens was denied bail because he has a probation hold.

Two other people in the apartment were released but could face charges after the case is reviewed by the state Attorney General’s Office.

Anyone with information about the investigation should contact the nearest Maine Drug Enforcement Agency office, text the agency at TIP411 (847411), or call 800-452-6457.
