Firefighters from four communities responded to a two-alarm blaze Tuesday afternoon, April 29, at 338 Gurnet Road, Brunswick. One firefighter was slighly injured, but the house was considered a total loss. Firefighters were called to the home of Scott Telkey just after 5 p.m. A second alarm brought assistance from Bath, Topsham and West Bath. No monetary estimate of the damage was available on Wednesday, but the house, which was insured, is considered a total loss, Brunswick Fire Chief Kenneth Brillant said. The injured firefighter was treated on the scene, and the fire was contained in less than two hours. Meanwhile, traffic to Bailey Island, Cundy’s Harbor, Great Island and Orr’s Island had to be diverted along Route 123. The cause of the blaze was being investigated.
