SCARBOROUGH — A Lewiston man was arrested Sunday after he stopped his vehicle on the Maine Turnpike median and threw rocks at passing cars, according to police.
Maine State Police said David Mullen, 42, was believed to be under the influence of “Molly,” a form of Ecstasy, when he damaged three vehicles Sunday.
When police arrived on the scene, a group of motorists had pinned Mullen to the ground. He was charged with criminal mischief and could face additional charges, according to spokesman Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Southbound traffic on the turnpike was backed up while the incident was resolved.
Mullen, who was treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland for facial lacerations, told troopers he had been using drugs, McCausland said.
