FALMOUTH — The Police Department is distributing free firearms trigger locks to town residents.
The goal of the program is to help families ensure that all guns are securely locked, especially when children are in the home, and that guns don’t go unlocked because families can’t afford trigger locks, according to a town news release.
Up to 5,000 trigger locks are available at the police station, 2 Marshall Drive. The program is made possible by Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence, Maine Medical Association and the Maine Chiefs of Police Association.
