PORTLAND — Expect traffic delays this weekend on York Street and the Casco Bay Bridge as the city continues replacement of a sewer pipe in High Street and a water main in York Street.

The intersection of High Street and York Street, and High Street between Commercial Street and York Street, will be closed from 5 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday as part of the York and High Streets Sewer Separation Project, according to a City Hall press release.

Although traffic flow will be restored on York Street by 5 p.m. on Saturday, High Street will be closed between York and Danforth Streets for the remainder of Saturday and on Sunday until the sewer repair is completed.

Police will be on site to help direct traffic, and there will be signs alerting motorists about the work on the South Portland side of the Casco Bay Bridge.

On Saturday, motorists who want to reach High Street west (uphill) of the construction area will need to detour around the work zone.

Traffic approaching the York-High intersection via the Casco Bay Bridge and traveling north on York Street should turn right on Park Street, left on Commercial Street, left on Center Street, left on York Street, then right onto Danforth Street, and continue on Danforth Street to High Street.
