TOPSHAM — A Cathance Road man died Tuesday afternoon from injuries sustained when a pickup truck fell on him.
Sam Petty, 64, of 421 Cathance Road, was home alone working on the vehicle at the rear of his house, according to Police Department Lt. Chris Lewis.
Lewis said Petty was underneath the rear axle area of the truck, which dropped from the jacks and landed on Petty’s upper chest. He was dead by the time his wife found him and called for help, Lewis said. Police received the call at 3:46 p.m.
Lewis said there were no signs of foul play, but the case will be turned over to the state medical examiner’s office to determine a cause of death. He said that could take two weeks.
“It was just an unfortunate and tragic accident,” Lewis said.
