TOPSHAM — The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a digitization policy for the town’s historic archives.
The Topsham Historical Society is seeking a grant from the Maine Memory Network to fund purchase of a scanner, but a digitization policy was necessary first. History Committee Chairman Ralph Williams informed selectmen in August that the society wants to make images available through the Maine Historical Society’s website.
The board on Oct. 20 also approved the placement of a tax payment box in the parking at the Town Hall complex, and approved Fire Chief Brian Stockdale’s request to build an 8-by-10-foot training structure outside the public safety building. Knight said all the structure’s materials are donated.
The Planning Board will have to review the project in a public hearing so that the site plan for the property can be amended.
