Top NYA fall athletes honored

NORTH YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Academy, coming off a fall season which produced two state championships, as well as a regional crown, recently honored its top athletes.

Field hockey, which won its second Class C title in three seasons, gave the Coaches’ Awards to Frances Leslie and Katherine Millett.

The junior varsity team named Carly Lappas its most valuable player and gave the Coaches’ Award to Meghan Farrell.

Boys’ cross-country, Class C champ for the first time since 2002, named Evan Kendall its MVP.

Boys’ soccer, which made a stunning run to the Class C state game, named Matt Michaud MVP and gave the Coaches’ Awards to Sam Leishman and Ryan Rousseau.

The JV-A team’s Coaches’ Award went to Ben Randall. The JV-B squad’s Coaches’ Award was given to Wesley Bright. Austin Kidder was named MVP.

On the girls’ side, Savanna Poole won the Coaches’ Award. Lily Wellenbach was named MVP.

The JV Coaches’ Award went to Maggie Bertocci.

The girls’ cross-country team’s MVP was Sarah Jordan. Anna Jaeger took home the Coaches’ Award.

Volleyball gave its Coaches’ Award to Danielle Smith. Jenny Sharp was chosen MVP.

The JV team’s MVP was Katherine Roche. Cathy Li won the Coaches’ Award.

Golf gave its MVP award to Tim Millett. C.J. Davis won the Coaches’ Award.

Middle School Athletic Council Awards were bestowed upon D.J. Nicholas and Marina Poole.
