Brunswick’s Nate Samson, left, and Caitlin Tycz were recently named Maine Swimmers of the Year by the state’s coaches. Samson won three events at the recent Class A state meet, setting a new state record in the 100 freestyle, tying the meet record in the 50 free and also capturing the 100 butterfly. Tycz was named “Swimmer of the Meet” at states after setting a new state record in the 100 butterfly, winning the 200 individual medley and helping the 400 relay team set a new state record and leading the 200 free relay to a first-place finish.
