SOUTH PORTLAND — Thomas “Tommy T” Walter Traynor III, 60, of South Portland, died at the Maine Medical Center on April 1.

He was born in Portland on March 16, 1955, a son of Thomas and Ruth (Brown) Traynor Jr. He grew up in South Portland and attended South Portland schools.

At the age of 17, Traynor enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1972-1975. He then joined the Army National Guard for a 20-year career, retiring as a staff sergeant. He also spent time working for Bath Iron Works.

Traynor lived an active and social life. He loved music, especially playing the guitar, and also enjoyed hunting, playing pool and camping. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Michael Traynor; and his sister, Debbie Traynor.

He is survived by two brothers, Timmy Traynor and wife, Kathy, and Ricky Traynor; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

Traynor’s family would like to thank everyone who has offered their love and support.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
