FALMOUTH — Thomas Steven Axelsen, 60, died Dec. 28, following a sudden illness, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 18, 1953, in Portland, a son of Robert and Arlene Axelsen.

Axelsen grew up in Portland, graduating from Deering High School in 1971. After graduating from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1973, he worked in marine biology for William F. Clapp Laboratories in Connecticut. In 1976, he began his career in medical supply sales with Maine Surgical Supply/McKesson Medical. His 37-year sales career was successful due to his strong personal relationships, integrity and work ethic.

He loved spending time in the Maine outdoors, camping, kayaking the coast, biking and relaxing at his camp in Stow. He took great pride in building and maintaining a home for his family. Spending time with family and friends and carrying on family traditions were very important to him. He had a great sense of humor and was the go-to-guy for his family, friends and customers.
