BRUNSWICK — Terry G. Favreau, 69, of Oak Ridge Road, died Nov. 20 at his home, with his wife and family by his side.

Favreau was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Jan. 21,1945, to Fernand and Eleanor (Bamforth) Favreau. He spent much of his life in Brunswick, and was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1963. He went on to graduate from Maine Maritime Academy in 1969.

Favreau sailed as an engineer aboard tankers in the merchant marine for many years. He then came to co-own and operate True Value Hardware in Brunswick, Augusta and Rockland. Later, he returned to the seas as an engineer on Great Lakes cement carriers, and also visited ports in South America, China and Europe.

Ashore, Favreau enjoyed working on home projects, spending Sundays with his family at their cottage in Harpswell, vacationing with family and friends, and coaching his sons’ hockey games.

Always one to offer assistance to others, Favreau is remembered by his family for his gentle demeanor, kind heart and his willingness to share a Pepsi or a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.

Favreau was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Barry.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Favreau; his three sons, Shawn Favreau and wife Beth, of Auburn, Timothy Favreau and wife Melissa, of California, and Dana Favreau and partner Shanna, of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Amaya, Talia, Axel and Grace Favreau; two brothers, Gary and Scott; and a sister, Robin Kelley.

There will be no funeral, but the family will hold a celebration of Favreau’s life in the spring.
