Falmouth standout Julia Brogan (left) was recently named the No. 1 Adult Female Player for 2014 at the Maine Tennis Association awards night. Brogan (photographed with Falmouth girls’ coach Sandra Stone and boys’ coach Bob McCully, both of whom were named Coach of the Year for their respective genders) was also named the No. 1 girls’ 18 player, was named to the No. 1 women’s doubles team with Falmouth teammate Olivia Leavitt and was recognized as the Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year. Falmouth’s Caroline Ray was named the No. 1 girls’ 16 player and Meredith Kelley of Falmouth was named the No. 1 girls’ 12 player. Matt Gilbert, of Falmouth Community Services, was recognized as the “Recreation Department of the Year” and Falmouth’s Rick Campbell of Gnome Landscaping Design & Masonry was named Corporate Sponsor of the Year. Additionally, Freeport’s girls’ coach Chris Nordenson awarded the Male Participation Award and Greely girls’ coach Ben Caswell recognized as 2014 Class B Girls’ High School Coach of the Year.
