PORTLAND –  Rachel Talbot Ross won the Democratic primary Tuesday or the Maine House District 40 seat, defeating Herb Adams and Anna Kellar by a 198-171-156 vote.

Talbot Ross will now go on to face Republican Carol Taylor and Green Independent Russell Hoskins in the Nov. 8 general election. Doyle and Hoskins were unopposed in their primary elections. The three are seeking to replace Democratic Rep. Ben Chipman, who won the Maine Senate District 27 nomination.

House District 40 covers the Bayside and Parkside neighborhoods and extends to the area near the University of Southern Maine campus.
