FREEPORT — As a way to continue its year-long 40th anniversary celebration, the Freeport Historical Society will host a summer exhibition showcasing T-shirts of the past 40 years.

The exhibition, “From Rebel to de Rigueur: The 40-Year History of the T-shirt,” will begin with a panel discussion with local cultural scholars and area professors. The exhibit will be on display at the Harrington House, 45 Maine St., from May 31 through Sept. 7, and T-shirts are needed to display.

Executive Director Christina White said the public is invited to submit their own T-shirts from 1969 through 2009 within six categories: politics, business, social organizations, affiliations, events, and fashion.
