SCARBOROUGH — Sylvia A. Adams, 75, of Scarborough, died Jan. 18, in Scarborough. She was born in Portland, the daughter of George and Dorothy “Vickerson” Hodgkins, and grew up in South Portland.

Adams worked in real estate from 1977-2008 as a sales agent at Harnden Realty. She was a manager and vice president of sales at Harnden Realty and CB Beecher Co. through 1993. Adams finished her career as a sales agent at Agency 1 Real Estate in Scarborough. During her career she was a member of many professional committees and was named Realtor of the Year by the Portland Board of Realtors in 1994.

She also served on the Portland Players Theater Board, South Portland Waterfront Market Committee, American Business Women’s Association and The Family Crisis Service Board, among others.

Sylvia loved to travel, golf, going to the theater, and spending time with the “Bridge Girls” and her grandchildren.

Surviving are two children, Alyce Cushing, of Albany, New York, and Kevin Adams, of South Portland; four grandchildren, Olivia Adams, Wyatt Adams, Caleb Cushing and Jacob Cushing; a sister, Dorothy Janice Scott, of Otisfield; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service was held Jan. 26 at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland.
