PORTLAND — Suzanne Marie Caron, 82, died peacefully Aug. 16 at the Barron Center.

The daughter of William and Mildred Caron, she was born in Portland on June 8, 1933.

Suzanne was a member of First Baptist Church in Portland, and participated in many civic groups, including The Salvation Army, the Red Hatters, the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Union Veterans of the Civil War. She was known for her sense of humor.

Caron is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Sylvestre and her husband, Raymond, of Saco, and Louise Yerxa and her husband, Harold, of Hernando, Florida; her brother, Richard Caron, and his wife, Dorothy, of Windham; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

A graveside committal service was held Aug. 22 at Brooklawn Memorial Park, in Portland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Caron’s memory to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3575, Portland, ME 04104.
