BRUNSWICK — Susan Baecker Matteson, 71, died Nov. 15 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home in Scarborough.
Matteson was born in Orange, N.J., on Aug. 3, 1942. She graduated from Kean College with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Later, Matteson was a founding member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter G. In addition to her family, the love of her life was entertaining others with her piano-playing and teaching. She adored teaching piano to children and adults for 45 years.
Matteson is survived by her daughter, Kristen Baecker Sparro; son-in-law Christopher Sparro; grandchildren Kaylee and Ryan; as well as former husband and friend Henry Baecker, of West Bath.
A memorial celebration will take place at First Parish Church of Brunswick in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
