On Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, about 20 people, led by Don Perkins, president of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, took a fundraising plunge into the ocean off Willard Beach in South Portland. The institute has a mission of pioneering collaborative solutions to global ocean challenges. Its goals for 2018 include accelerating the growth of a diverse seafood economy and aiding marine communities in adapting to climate change.
