SCARBOROUGH — Stores advertising back-to-school specials may mean fall is on the horizon, but not before the annual Scarborough Summerfest offers some end-of-summer fun.

This year’s event kicks on Friday, Aug. 20, begins at 4 p.m., with a magic show and a variety of vendors at the Clifford Mitchell Sports Complex (high school athletic fields).

At 6 p.m. there will be a children’s one-mile race, followed at 6:30 p.m. by an adult 5K race. Tim Bishop and the 5th Avenue Band will perform until 9:15 p.m., when fireworks are scheduled.

Rain dates are Saturday or Sunday.
