BATH — Sue Lee Buxton, 48, died at home Sept. 13 surrounded by family after battling lung cancer.

On Aug. 24, 1962, she was born in Augusta, one of 10 children of Raymond L. Buxton Sr. and Elsie L. Buxton, and was educated in Edgecomb schools.

She and her family moved to Waldoboro, where she met her life partner of more than 30 years, Muriel Winchenbach. Later on, she moved to Bath, where she resided until her death.

For many years, she worked at Gilmore Seafood and as head housekeeper for The Bath Inn and The Kennebec Inn.

She was known for her practical jokes and fun-loving attitude.

Her parents, Raymond L. Buxton Sr. and Elsie L. Buxton, predeceased her, as well as two sisters, Juanita Weymouth and Donna Willis, and a nephew, Ernest “Tattoo Tim” Watson.

She is survived by her life partner Muriel Winchenbach; their son, Travis Winchenbach; three brothers, Ted Weymouth his wife Pat of Monmouth, Raymond L Buxton Jr. and his wife Sandra of New York, and Peter Buxton of Dresden, four sisters, Betty Gould and her husband Robert of Madrid, Rita Buxton and her partner Raymond Stuart of Pittston, RayMona Arft and partner David Young of Poland, and Heidi Buxton and Larry Shaw of Woolwich; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A graveside service is planned for at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop.

Arrangements are by Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
