Nicole Mitchell, 14, of Bath, affixes a “Sticker Shock” label to a bottle of beer held by Maria Morris on April 29 at Brackett’s Market in Bath. Morris, a Jobs for Maine’s graduates specialist, is based at Morse High School and helped coordinate the event called “Sticker Shock.” The Maine Office of Substance Abuse campaign encourages people not to provide alcoholic beverages to those under the legal drinking age. The campaign provides orange stickers for each container of alcohol and posters, to be displayed by sellers of alcohol. A 2005 Maine state law requires the posters to be displayed prominently. Student participants are not allowed to touch the beer bottles.
