PORTLAND — A psychiatric resident working at Maine Medical Center was placed on probation for two years by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine on April 8.

Dr. Cameron R. Bonney was found to have made dishonest statements to the board about alcohol use while participating in a substance monitoring program that prohibited drinking.

Further investigation determined Bonney had “a historical problem with the illicit use of both prescription and illegal drugs and admitted that he used alcohol,” according to a board press release.

In a consent agreement, Bonney also accepted a reprimand and will pay a $1,500 fine.
