The 2013 spring sports season was short, sweet and successful for local athletes and teams.

Highlights were plentiful.

On the baseball diamond, Morse reached the semifinals before dropping a thriller to defending Class B champion Falmouth. Brunswick was ousted in extra innings of an Eastern A prelim.

Brunswick’s boys’ lacrosse team got to the regional final, where it dropped a painful decision to Cheverus. Mt. Ararat was upset by Deering in the quarterfinals. Morse got to the Western B quarterfinals, but lost to Maranacook.

On the girls’ side, Morse enjoyed the best season in its history, reaching the Eastern B Finals before losing to Yarmouth. Mt. Ararat lost to eventual Class A champion Cheverus in the quarterfinals, while reigning regional champion Brunswick was also ousted in that round, by Messalonskee.

The outdoor track and field state meet produced several memorable performances.
